What if there is a forecasted rainy day on the day of my family session?

Spring often brings unpredictable weather, and for families, rain can feel like a challenge. But what if rain is not a problem, but an opportunity?

Spring rain can force us to get a little closer, and seek shelter in unexpected places.

Why Rainy Days Are Great for a family session

Rain changes the environment in ways that can enhance your session. Instead of avoiding wet weather, think about this:

  • Puddles and wet surfaces create natural mirrors, doubling your composition and adding interest.

  • Cloud cover acts like a giant soft box, reducing harsh shadows and creating even lighting. It can also give a cozier feel to create photographs of genuine connection.

  • The kids LOVE to play in the puddles and mud which creates such a fun session of genuine joy for rainy day family sessions.
